Despite challenges, Neighborcare will continue mission

President Donald Trump has taken several actions that have undercut the Affordable Care Act and may make it more difficult for many to access health care.

Michael Erickson, the CEO of Neighborcare Health, addressed those actions last week and indicated that Neighborcare will continue to serve everyone, even if people lose their insurance or become under-insured. He also noted that patients may encounter problems if they need specialty care.

“As a non-profit community health center, Neighborcare Health will continue to provide primary medical care services to patients on Vashon and all of our clinics, no matter their income or insurance status. However, lack of insurance or inadequate insurance may make it harder for many of our patients to receive other critical health care services, such as specialty care,” he said.

Neighborcare has been serving Vashon for one year.
