Islander making a name for Music Mends Minds project

Rotary presidents learned more about the music therapy project that meets at Vashon Community Care.

On Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22 and 23, Vashon Rotarian Amy Huggins went to the DoubleTree Hotel in Seatac to Promote Music Mends Minds, the music therapy project that meets at Vashon Community Care every Tuesday afternoon.

Huggins shared information about the program to 750 incoming Rotary presidents from Canada, Washington and Oregon. The presidents were there for training and were interested in new projects, she said.

“Since Rotary is a global service organization, and because music helps patients and caregivers of neurocognitive diseases so effectively, this is the reason I promoted this project to incoming Rotary presidents,” Huggins said after the event.
