Open Space re-opens with weekend celebration

Open Space for Arts & Community celebrated the re-opening of the building on Saturday, Dec. 9, following a six-month renovation project.

Several hundred community members dropped by throughout the afternoon to tour the new space, view the art exhibits and watch indoor aerial performances provided by students from UMO School of Physical Arts (pictured).

The ribbon cutting ceremony included past and current staff, members of the construction team and Open Space co-owners and founders David Godsey and Janet MacAlpin.

Vashon’s unofficial Mayor, Tink (Colleen Carette), pro-claimed December 9 as Open Space Day in perpetuity.
