PHOTOS: Islanders take to a frozen Fisher Pond

For the first time in three years, temperatures dropped to at- or below-freezing long enough last month to freeze Fisher Pond. As has become tradition, boxes of ice skates in various sizes were brought to the pond by islanders Gary and Linda Peterson and islanders took to the ice to skate, play hockey and enjoy the designs and patterns from trees and air frozen in the ice. As the weather warms up and the pond loses its ability to be skated on, Vashon photographer Cassie Bergman has given The Beachcomber permission to publish her photos from the frozen fun in the following slidehow.
