Rick Wallace receives award from Vashon HouseHold

Wallace said he was pleased to be chosen for this most recent honor.

Rick Wallace recently received the Broad Shoulders, Big Heart Award from the Vashon HouseHold board, which created the award to honor the organization’s founder, Jean Bosch. Bosch, who died in 2017, was active in the community in many ways.

The board president, Bill Dorn, presented the award to Wallace last Thursday evening, and Beverly Miller cited some of Wallace’s contributions to Vashon since he and his wife Karen Baer moved to the island in 1999. Miller noted Wallace was one of Bosch’s colleagues in expanding and strengthening Voice of Vashon, and he now serves as VoV’s vice president. He is one of the backbones of VashonBePrepared and is the vice president of that organization as well.

Wallace said he was pleased to be chosen for this most recent honor.

“I’m deeply honored and touched by this award, especially since it is given in honor of the late Jean Bosch who served for some years as the president of Voice of Vashon. She truly had broad shoulders and a big heart, so it means a lot to me that Vashon HouseHold believes my contributions deserve such recognition,” he said.
