Richard Charles Thies

After a long illness, Richard C. Thies went to be with Jesus June 11, 2016. Born April 3, 1928 in St Paul, Minnesota, to Charles and Agnes (Meide) Thies. After serving four years in the Navy he worked at various jobs, including the railroad in Minnesota, grainery in Seattle, WA. He then went to work at Boeing as a temp, eventually became an engineer serving them for 30 years. He worked in the materials lab. One job was testing a material for a buggy that went to the moon. During his marriage he fathered four children: Tania Alumbaugh, Vashon, Linda Thies, Vashon, Annette Thies, Shoreline, and Dan Thies, Sequim and they have given him four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren. A member of the Vashon Eagles, he enjoyed the many activities they offered. Richard married Hazel Bacon in 1982, and gained eight step children, 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, for a total of 64 grandchildren, not including spouses between them. Richard has lived in Tonasket, WA, for the past four years with his wife Hazel.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Vashon Presbyterian Church

Saturday, June 25, 2016, at 1 pm with reception to follow. Graveside

Service at 3:30, at the Vashon Cemetery.
