LETTER: Support school employees during tough time

I’m feeling uppity this week. I marched with my daughter in Seattle last Saturday, and it sparked a fire that goes beyond speaking out against the poor behavior of our new president.

I’m tired of people who manipulate and abuse our judicial and democratic systems. This is happening not only in Washington D.C. or Olympia, but right here on our little island oasis, where a $40 million lawsuit is gnawing away at our beloved school system and no one seems to be talking about it. This month, a number of our school administrators and faculty are beginning depositions that will consume their minds and energy until the trial begins in the fall. This legal nightmare has been going on for almost a year already. It affects our kids every day and it’s a huge distraction for teachers, parents and students. Please don’t let it go unnoticed. Speak up. Tell your teachers how much you appreciate them. Write a note to your principal and say thank you for leading through these hard times. Let your voice be heard. It does matter.
