Swimmers ages 7 and up are welcome to try out for the Vashon Seals Swim Team on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Vashon Pool. Swimmers should be comfortable in the pool and be able to swim 10 yards in any style. The Vashon Seals is a year-round competitive swim program. For more information, visit www.swimvashon.org.

Referee clinic

The Seattle Soccer Referee Association and Vashon Island Soccer Club (VISC) are offering a U.S. Soccer Federation entry-level referee clinic. Both players and parents are invited to take the course and become paid referees. Players must be at least age 12 or going into seventh-grade. VISC covers the cost of the class, and after the clinic mentors will continue to train referees on the field. The clinic will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, at McMurray Middle School. For more information or to register, visit www.wasrc.org or contact Liam O’Niel at referees@vashonsoccer.org.
