The Mid-Sound Boomers, a men’s soccer team led by Islander Lorin Reinelt, recently took first in the Metro Parks Tacoma Men’s Masters soccer league. The Boomers beat out more than 30 other teams and won the championship match against South Kitsap, 7-4, on Sunday, May 1.

Islanders Don Amick, Sean Harrison, Tom Hennessey, David Leonhardt, Greg Martin, David O’Neill, Mark Scheer, Sjardo Steneker and Skip Tavakkolian are also on the team.

“We hardly take ourselves seriously, but it is always fun to win something,” said Martin.

Their plaque will be on display at the Vashon Park District office at Ober Park.
