Ending a strong golf season, Vashon High School sophomore Cole Devereau had an excellent showing at the 1A state golf tournament last week in DuPont, Wash.

On Tuesday, Mar 24, Devereau scored an 80, finishing 17th out of 80 golfers and qualifying for day two of the tournament.

The next he scored a 78 and tied for 16th in the state.

Coach Andy Sears offered support and help with his mental game on both days.

Sears said that he and the VHS golf team are proud of Devereau, who also qualified for state last year as a freshman. This year, though, Deverau became a medalist by placing in the top 16, something Sears said was a huge accomplishment for a golfer his age.

“He just continued to improve all season long. He’s the hardest worker on the team,” Sears said. “The hard work paid off and we’re proud of him.”
