Get out your hula skirt for a tropical fun run

April 17, 2012 · Updated 12:49 PM

The Vashon Running Club’s April fun run, which will take place Saturday at Island Center Forest, will have a tropical theme. Dressing up isn’t required to participate in the 5k run and walk, but Hawaiian shirts, muumuus, grass skirts, puka shells and the like are encouraged.

The run will begin 9 a.m. at the 188th Street entrance to Island Center Forest. Sign-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and walkers may start at 8:45.

The run is free, but participants are encouraged to make a donation to support the club’s operational costs and to bring a snack to share at the end of the run.
