Vashon volleyball wraps up the season

October 30, 2012 · Updated 11:25 AM

Going into the final week of league play, Vashon volleyball players knew they had their work cut out for them. They needed at least one more win to make it into the Nisqually League playoffs, but faced two tough teams — Seattle Christian on Monday, Oct. 22, and top-ranked Life Christian on the following Wednesday at home.

The Pirates played some spirited volleyball, and the games were close, but ultimately Vashon lost both matches and missed the league playoffs by one position.

Despite an up and down season, the team stayed upbeat and positive and played some of their best volleyball against the better teams in the league. They ended the season with a record of five wins and 10 losses.

As Wednesday was also Senior Night, players Amanda Ohmert, Erin Ewing and Georgia Leonardi were honored for their years of dedication and commitment to the game.
