Track and field team honored

On Thursday, June 10, varsity letters, plaques and medals were handed out to members of the Vashon High School track and field team.

Voted as the team captains were seniors Danny Salonen for the boys and Alana Robinson representing the girl’s team. Voted most inspirational by the team were freshmen James Spencer and Savanna Krug. James Spencer and Emma Lodes were voted most improved team members.

The Russ Brazill 110% award, which is a perpetual trophy in honor of longtime track and cross-country coach Russ Brazill, went to senior Adam Thalhofer on the boys team and sophomore Kate Straube for the girls.

The Coaches Achievement Medal went to the team’s only state participant, senior Jacqueline Jewell. During the graduation ceremony two track participants received the pieces of eight award: seniors Danny Salonen and Lizzy Braicks.
