Islander to run world 24-hour

Islander Alex Swenson was named one of six members of the American national men’s team to compete in the Sixth World Championship 24-Hour Run of the International Association of Ultrarunners.

The event will be held Oct. 18 to 19 in Seoul, Korea. U.S. teams have performed well at the event in previous years, usually finishing among the top five national teams and making the team medals podium twice, according to www.runnersweb.com.

A hole-in-one

Gordon Steen, Vashon resident and member of the Vashon Island Golf and Country Club, hit a hole-in-one on hole number 5, Wednesday, June 18, during the Home & Home competition with Gig Harbor Country Club, which was held at Vashon Island Golf and Country Club.
