Going the distance: runners traverse the Island

On Saturday morning, in a torrential rainfall, the cross-country team and other community members set out on the 13.5-mile dock-to-dock run, from the Tahlequah ferry dock to the north-end ferry. This annual event is just over a half marathon.

Islander Bruce Cyra had the fastest time in one hour, 31 minutes, 55 seconds, followed by Islander John Payne in one hour, 42 minutes, five seconds.

The first high school runner was Cole Grabow in one hour, 45 minutes, 33 seconds. Other participants were Aidan Cyra, Lisa Cyra, Colin Andrus, Chris Bingham, Bob Cannel, Jim Cross, Ann Edwards, Jason Everett, Orianna Futrell, Kevin Kim-Murphy, Savannah Krug, Kenese Parker, Peri Roberts, Leigh Sheridan, Kate Straube, Lindsay Straube, Dia Van Holden, David Weller, David Wells and Nan Wilson.
