Trail runners have successful race

The Vashon Ultramarathon and Trail Run took place under sunny skies on June 26. Forty-eight runners started, and 40 completed, the 50K, a 31-mile race. Sixty-nine runners started and finished the 10 miler. The 50K overall male winner was co-race director and Islander Bruce Cyra, 52, who ran the race in in four hours, 14 minutes. The overall female winner was Yitka Winn, 22, from Seattle, who finished in five hours, 34 minutes. The 10-mile overall male winner was Will Callan, 17, from San Francisco, who finished in one hour, nine minutes. Jennie Callan, 15, was the 10-mile female overall winner in one hour, 25 minutes.
