A few Vashon wrestlers have been spending extra time on the mat this summer, both competing and prepping for the upcoming season

Robert Easton, who will be a sophomore at Vashon High School, recently competed in the Cadet National Tournament in Fargo, N.D. After qualifying by placing 6th and 5th in the Greco-Roman and Freestyle state tournaments, respectively, Easton faced numerous tough competitors at the National Tournament. Vashon wrestling fans will no doubt see vast improvement from Easton when he returns to VHS.

Kevin Thomas, who will be a junior, recently returned from a two-week intensive wrestling camp in Oregon. Coaches can expect to see a focused and inspired Thomas this winter.

Chase Wickman, who will soon be a seventh-grader, also spent much of the summer wrestling. After competing in the Western Regionals in Pocatello, Idaho, Wickman raced home to make it to a wrestling camp near Olympia. At the camp Wickman was lauded for his intensity and seemingly endless thirst for wrestling knowledge.
