The Vashon High School boys’ lacrosse team ended its season last week after a loss in the playoffs to powerhouse Juanita High School.

Three Pirates head to state track and field competition this week

The West Central District III Championships meet at North Mason High School served up equal helpings of exultation and frustration for the eight Pirate track and field athletes who tested their skills in 11 different events there last Friday and Saturday. The top two finalists in each event move on to compete in the WIAA State Championship meets this weekend.

The theme of the annual Opening Day boat parade at University of Washington’s Montlake Cut was Myths and Monsters with vessels wrapped in giant squids, chased by Loch Ness monsters and swarming with shimmering mermaids.

Track athletes see success at Tacoma meet
