A new season, new coach, breathe new life into VHS football

The Seahawks aren’t the only local football team getting ready to start the fall season, as practices began last week for the Vashon High School (VHS) Pirates varsity and junior varsity (JV) football teams.

Former junior crew rower wins big at world championships

After a successful year rowing for California’s NCAA crew team, Vashon High School graduate Mia Croonquist took two gold medals last weekend at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Just a year out of high school, she has now been a part of a U.S. national team four times.

Bill Burby race over festival weekend creates multiple winners

The summer heat may have discouraged some of the adults, but nearly one-third of the more than 300 finishers of Saturday’s 35th annual Bill Burby Inspirational were in the 18-and-under categories. And some of them made it look easy, kicking up their speed as they neared the finish line.
