Stingray swimmers set personal-best times at Spring Divisionals

The Stingrays Swim Team competed in the Spring Divisional Championships swim meet at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center March 11 and 12, and multiple swimmers set personal best times.

Liam Krikawa swam the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter individual medley and 100-meter breaststroke, where his hard work paid off. He swam a personal best at 1:48.09.

Meanwhile, the event marked the first-ever swim meet for Oliver Churchill. He completed the 100-meter breaststroke, 100-meter individual medley and 50-meter freestyle, where he achieved a personal best 36.56.

Aiden Erlandson placed high in all of his races, achieving personal bests in every event and becoming top point winner for the team. His races were the 50-meter butterfly (sixth place finish), 50-meter backstroke (fifth place), 100-meter individual medley (third place) and 50-meter freestyle (second place).

For the girls, Eva Cain achieved a personal best in the 100-meter backstroke with 1:29.12, and held her times in the 50-meter breaststroke and 100-meter freestyle.

Madeline Yarkin continued to match her times in the 100-meter freestyle, but added personal bests in the 50-meter butterfly (47.90), and 50-meter breaststroke (49.23).

Brennan Peterson swam in five events, qualified for A finals (he was one of the top eight swimmers) in the 100-meter freestyle and 100-meter butterfly and B finals (one of the top 16 swimmers) in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter individual medley. He swam personal bests in the 50-meter freestyle with a 23.68 and 100-meter freestyle clocking in at 51.14, just 1.15 seconds shy of a Regional time standard.

Erik Pringle achieved personal bests both days in all his races — he swam his 100-meter breaststroke in 1:13.17, 50-meter freestyle in 24.87, 50-meter breaststroke in 33.34 and 100-meter freestyle in 53.54. Erik’s 100-meter freestyle time earned him a qualification to compete in this year’s Regional Championships competition. He will be the sole swimmer representing Vashon at the Regional Championships this weekend.
