Vashon High School wrestlers moving into postseason

Vashon High School’s Pirate wrestlers beat Port Townsend 48-14 last Thursday, to finish the season 2-2 and head to the postseason with momentum.

Port Townsend’s only points came as forfeits — they didn’t win a match.

Pirates Moses Kilpatrick, Lewis Kanagy, Hunter Burger, Luke Larson, Adrian St. Germain and Jake Carman all recorded pins or wins in the varsity victory.

Ben Angelacos and Julian Fifield both won their matches by forfeit.

Peytra Gard got her first win in girls’ wrestling competition with a first-round pin.

For the junior varsity wrestlers, wins were highlighted by Yuta “Yutacris” Koike’s first round pin.

Vashon hosts sub-regionals this weekend at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Vashon High School gym. Port Townsend, Klahowya, Cascade Christian and Bellevue Christian will all compete for spots in the regional tournament that will take place Feb. 11.
