VHS boys’ soccer makes a comeback

The Vashon High School boys’ soccer team bounced back this past Wednesday after the tough loss they received from Seattle Academy. The Pirates faced off against the Bellevue Christian Vikings.

The game started off with the Pirates dominating. Tommy Delargy scored nine minutes into the game, dribbling the ball down the left wing and taking it all the way into the box. It took less than one minute for Vashon to score their second goal of the game as Jakob Heuschert took the ball away from the opposing side and sent it down the field for Delargy to finish it off. Vashon kept the pressure on the Vikings and it resulted in another goal just three minutes later, as Finley Oswald set Delargy up for a wonderful finish. Tommy Delargy had his hat trick only twelve minutes into the game. Six minutes later, Finley Oswald took the fourth of the game as Heuschert set him up with a lovely ball. Coach Ben Bork started making substitutions onto the pitch. Will Hennessey had his part in the festivity of goals, as he scored a powerful header right down the middle off a well taken corner kick by Sasha Elenko. The half ended 5-0 in the Pirates favor.

The second half started off slow as Vashon was just taking control of the game. Only one goal was scored and it was by Sasha Elenko after he took on four defenders and none were able to stop his run. The game ended 6-0.

The Pirates will look to continue their successful season this Monday at Coupeville High School and play Northwest High School on Friday at 5:00 p.m.

The young Junior Varsity team also had a game this past week, losing to the Ballard C squad 9-0 on Monday and beating the Seattle Academy JV squad 6-0. The goals were scored by Richard Rivas-Gutierrez, Cameron Bedard, Bassam Almustafa and Zach Van Dusen. Both Richard Rivas-Gutierrez and Cameron Bedard had two goals each.
