VHS soccer starts Saturday

The Pirates are coming off a formidable year

The Vashon Pirates kick off soccer season this Saturday against Overlake High School.

The Pirates are coming off a formidable year with 14 wins, two losses and three ties. They were the Nisqually League Champions and District III Champions last year, losing in the first round of state play-offs.

A few of the outstanding players from that winning team are back with the Pirates this year, including seniors and First Team Nisqually League honorees Tommy Delargy and Finley Oswald — Delargy was the league’s goal leader last year.

Including Delargy and Oswald, the Pirates have eight players returning from last season. Other players include Elliot Eades (2nd Team Nisqually League) and Will Hennessey and Isaac Ajeto, juniors Jeremiah Bogaard (Second Team Nisqually League) and Richard Rivas (Second Team Nisqually League), as well as sophomore Jakob Heuschert and incoming freshman Bellamy Cox-Sitkiewicz.

The Pirates take the field at 1 p.m. this Saturday on the new Vashon High School turf.
