Café Luna to offer wine

Café Luna should be able to sell wine by the bottle — as soon as its liquor license application to do so goes through, said café owner Natalie Sheard.

The cafe will hold wine tastings on the second Friday of each month beginning March 13, and Sheard said it made sense for her establishment to be able to sell wine by the bottle. She applied for the license last month and expects her license to be approved any day.

“I could sell you a bottle of wine if I opened it here,” she said, “but we’re applying to be able to sell bottles for off-premises consumption.”

Ron Irvine of Vashon Winery will lead the monthly wine tastings with five wines each time. The wines will follow a theme and will be selected by Irvine, but not necessarily from Vashon Winery.

“You can’t really have a wine tasting without being able to sell the bottles of wine,” Sheard said.
