LETTER: Braddock is better for Vashon

We have two Democratic candidates running to replace Sharon Nelson in the state senate. Either one is deserving of our vote, but I support Shannon Braddock. I first met Shannon about 10 years ago, when she was County Council Member Joe McDermott’s “right-hand woman.” She supported Friends of Mukai’s efforts to gain control of, and public access for, the Mukai Farm and Garden. She worked with Joe to ensure that there was county council support of that effort. Shannon knows and appreciates Vashon; she has governmental experience and connections that I don’t believe Joe Nguyen does. Both Sharon Nelson and Dow Constantine endorse Shannon.

Take advantage of three opportunities to judge for yourself. On Thursday, Oct. 11, Shannon Braddock is holding a fundraiser (RSVP requested) at the Land Trust Building from 5:30 to 7 p.m. At 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Gather Vashon (17600 Vashon Hwy. SW), there will be a meet and greet with Shannon (free). On Monday evening, Oct. 22, there will be a moderated debate between the two candidates in the Vashon High School theater. That event will also provide information on the initiatives that will be on our November ballot. Great opportunities, all, to help you make your election decisions.
