A frequent letter writer opines on news coverage of Netanyahu’s speech before Congress.

ISRAEL-PALESTINE

More news, not ads

I’m beginning to think that all the conspiracy theorists may be on to something. Or it may simply be a case of journalists “knowing” that what they say about the event is more important than the event. Or is it the press trying to dumb us down, and why?

Like most important events, I was unable to see or hear Netanyahu’s speech before Congress. No, I do not like or have any respect for this monster. It’s simply that old message from my grammar school that you should keep up with current events.

On both the AP website and the NPR website I keyed in “Netanyahu’s speech before Congress.” It came back with what Joe Shmoe says about the speech, interspersed with shots of protestors, moving right along to something telling you to click here for the speech, which brings you to a screen telling you to click here for the speech, which brings you to a screen telling you… Of course all of that is interspersed with dropdowns telling you about the latest revolutionary screw driver. Let me see, now whose speech did I want to hear?

The internet is worse than television, which I cancelled four years ago. It’s filled with commercials and crap. I guess we can thank corporate America for that. They are experts at boring us to death.

If my partner didn’t want to keep it, I would cancel the internet yesterday. What was touted as something new, different, and great communication for all of the world’s people has become a huckster explaining in disgusting details, how to solve your constipation problem.

Who the hell coined the word “poop” anyway? As far as I’m concerned, it’s the internet that is constipated, and there is no cure in sight.
