Fond farewell to Kate

As Kate Dowling steps away from her role as executive director of Voice of Vashon, I want to express my deep gratitude for her extraordinary service to our community.

Kate brought to the station a rare and powerful blend of passion, marketing savvy, heartfelt care, and genuine involvement. She was exactly what Voice of Vashon needed to thrive, not just as a media outlet, but as a vibrant reflection of our inclusive island spirit. Her ability to work with such a wide range of personalities and temperaments made herding cats look easy. And she did it all with grace, humor, and a seemingly endless supply of energy.

Kate’s leadership combined the administrative prowess of a Fortune 500 executive with the enthusiasm of a high school cheerleader. She made the impossible seem effortless. Replacing someone who can walk on water won’t be easy.

On a personal note, I will miss her radiant smile, her unwavering encouragement, and her strong ethical compass. Kate, wherever your journey takes you next, may it be filled with joy, purpose, and the same kind of magic you brought to us. Don’t forget your island friends please because we’ll be here, cheering you on, and hoping you come back often.
