A reader writes in with thanks to the Vashon Island Fire and Rescue team.

THANK YOU

Appreciative to VIFR

I want to convey my sincerest thanks to the Vashon Island Fire and Rescue team, the fire chief, paramedics, sheriff, and two firefighter volunteers who all came to my aid when I passed out in my bathtub on Tuesday, Dec. 26, with a severe undiagnosed infection.

They quickly transported me to the Sunrise Ridge helicopter pad where I was flown to Harborview Hospital. I am still wondering how the paramedics managed to lift up a wet, uncovered, unconscious woman out of a tiny mid-century bathroom with all of their equipment in tow.

I am now at home in full recovery mode. My only regret is missing the joy of a helicopter ride.
