First Responders

Thankful for island police officers

My husband and I would like to publically recognize the two police officers who were working the second shift, Monday, April 25 for assisting in saving our 33-year-old horse, Mia, after she had a “Help, I’ve fallen and can’t get up” incident. I am just sorry I did not get their names during the stress of the time they were here.

After futile attempts by my husband and me to help her back up, we realized we desperately needed additional manpower. I put in a call to our vet and then 911 to see if the Fire Department could assist, but unfortunately not. The call-taker recognized our desperate situation and dispatched the two island officers.

The vet and both police officers arrived and thankfully, the combined help got her back on her feet and literally saved her life. We are sincerely grateful to our wonderful vet and two island officers for helping give our dear old girl more days to enjoy the sunshine of life.
