July 4th is coming soon, and I write to beg the generous people who arrange for the fireworks to only buy quiet or soundless fireworks. This would mean less stress for veterans, older people, pets and noise-sensitive children as well as wildlife in the water, on land and in the air. In parts of Europe, quiet fireworks displays have grown increasingly common. We can forgo the big explosions and still receive a stunning show.
