A night of songs, mystic poetry, kirtan and mantra

Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, an international teacher, author and founder of the Total Yoga Nidra Network, will offer an evening of inspirational and devotional songs, mystic poetry and the sounds of kirtan and mantra from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Hanna Barn, a private movement studio on Maury Island.

Songs and poetry from the Bhakti Yoga, Shakta Tantra and Sufi traditions will be presented by Dinsmore-Tuli, her Vashon student Carol Lutra-Johns and the musicians of Zaftig.

Lutra-Johns describes the evening as “a nourishing and restful space of informal and nurturing Total Yoga Nidra, delivered in response to the spirits and needs of those attending.” She said there was no need for attendees to move, suggesting instead that listeners could simply “settle into deep comfort and open their ears to the sound of the practices.” Bolsters and blankets will be provided at the event.

“Yoga Nidra is a great treasure, a potent meditative resource for healing, insight, and empowerment,” said Dinsmore-Tuli. “It’s a state of consciousness in which we are invited to re-encounter the essential truth of who we really are. Yoga Nidra provides us with the opportunity to experience deep freedom.”

Space is limited; tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door. Write or call carol@blissorganix.com or 206-567-5822 to reserve your slot.
