Holiday-themed concerts, open houses, markets, parties and performances abound on Vashon.

Trío Guadalevín

Trío Guadalevín, an acclaimed trio of musicians who forge connections between Mexico and the Mediterranean, will present “La Velada,” an inclusive holiday program of music celebrating the Feast of la Virgen de Guadalupe, Spanish cantigas de Santa Maria, Hanukah and Christmas in Latin America.

The concert will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at Open Space for Arts & Community.

Employing a wealth of instruments and techniques, the trio — Antonio Gómez, Abel Rocha and August “Gus” Denhard — explores and reimagines a music dialogue between Indigenous, European and African cultures which define Latin American identity. At this performance, the trio will be joined by the recorder artist Vicki Boeckman.
