Celebrate an array of art during autumn gallery cruise Friday evening

Mixed media artist Megan Molloy will exhibit her work in “Reflections” at Café Luna. Molloy explores the intersection of nature and abstraction, using travel photos that have been layered, tiled, printed and then transferred to live-edge rounds.

Hastings-Cone Gallery will show Cindy Small’s latest art installation: “Haunted,” which includes mixed media assemblages, drawings and paintings. The exhibit represents her passion for acquiring odd, found objects and allegory.

The Vashon Heritage Museum will open a new exhibit, “Mapping Vashon: 1792 to 2017,” which explores the many ways Vashon has been represented in maps over the past 230 years and how the Native people of Vashon named various parts of the island.

Island Paper Chase will exhibit origami made from recycled paper. Among the recycled art will be a 5- by 3- foot cape made from over 700 Hershey candy wrappers, a mobile made from chop sticks and chop stick covers, candy wrapper hearts and wall art made using Sierra Club Calendar pictures.

PSCCU will show recent work by Jack Chevalier. His paintings connect old photographic images and contemporary contexts to explore the continuity of human culture. Jim Burke and Greg McElroy will play jazz standards during the opening.

Wood artist Dale Randles makes one-of-a-kind functional wood sculpture and wooden gifts, including wood rings, hair accessories, boxes and kitchen utensils, which will be shown at S.A.W.

Images from two teen photography camps held at Vashon Center for the Arts will be shown at Two Wall Gallery. Twenty teens will show over 60 matted prints and photo transfers onto beeswax. Photos were taken both on and off the island.

The new show “Hideaway” will open at VALISE Gallery. The exhibit is a visual conversation about seeking shelter. Member artists Jiji Saunders and Sharon Shaver will show acrylic and encaustic paintings of forest creatures, cabins and caves.

Vashon Intuitive Arts will show watercolors and monotype prints by longtime island artist Ilse Reimnitz. Her artwork has been exhibited nationally and regionally, including at the Fry Art Museum and the Bellevue Art Museum.

At Vashon Senior Center, William Forrester will show charcoal portraits of his elder friends and mentors who live at the center. The drawings are often produced spontaneously in the brief moments of their visits together. A reception with the artist will be held from 5 to 8 p.m.

VCA Koch Gallery will show work by sculptor Sandi Bransford, whose sculptural narratives combine human and animal forms, and drawings by Bruce Morser from his new children’s book. Morser will give a talk at 5:30 p.m. before the opening.
