Fill up fall with Vashon Allied Arts classes

Art students of all ages can take advantage of several new classes offered by Vashon Allied Arts.

Adult actors will take scenes from page to stage when Lisa Breen teaches Scene Study Workshop, 7 to 9 p.m., Mondays, Nov. 3, 10, 17 and 24. Participants will learn how to use voice, dialogue and emotion to bring characters to life.

Another new class, led by Brian and Tara Brenno, will teach teens and adults how to make glass ornaments for the holidays. The class will be offered twice, first from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, and again from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday Nov. 8. Workshops take place in the Brenno glass studio.

Brenno will also teach an introductory glass class for adults from 7 to 10 p.m. on Mondays, Nov. 3, 10 and 17. Participants will learn to blow, fuse and cast glass to create a beautiful mosaic mirror.

Adults can learn basic techniques to create an original sculpture with David Erue from 12 to 3 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 2 and 9. Classes will take place in the artist’s shop.

Kids ages 6 to 10 will make colorful, zany felt objects with Sooze Bloom de Leon grossman in a workshop scheduled to be held 1:30 to 4:30 on Saturday, Nov. 8.

Adults and kids are invited to celebrate the coming of winter by making a clay penguin with personality. Potter Liz Lewis will lead the one day clay experience 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at Blue Heron Pottery on Beall Road.
