The Lonely H, an up-and-coming Port Angeles band, will play two gigs on Vashon this weekend.

The band will first take the stage from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at the “Barack the Vote” event in Ober Park.

At 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, they will play an all-ages show at Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi.

The Seattle Weekly has called The Lonely H “a celebration of classic rock, endless-summer melodies and unabashed nerdiness,” and their hometown newspaper described the band members as “a group of teenagers who don’t sit around complaining there’s nothing to do in Port Angeles. They are making things happen.”

The band’s first album, “Kick Upstairs,” was released in 2006 when most of the band was only 16.

Their second album, “HAIR,” came out a year later on the indie label, The Control Group.

“This is a band that appeals to people of all ages,” said Pete Welch, who is organizing the band’s appearance on the Island. “These guys are rock stars and have to be seen live to really appreciate their amazing talent.”

The Lonely H will perform two sets at the Red Bicycle. The first set, from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m., is all ages and the second set, from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., is for ages 21 and up only.

The cover charge is $3 for the under 21 crowd and $5 for ages 21 and older.
