Mad Libs, Martinis and May Kitchen Make for Game Night

The virtual event will feature home-delivered food and drinks, appearance by musician Angie Louise.

Open Space for Arts & Community and May Kitchen + Bar will present a virtual evening of hijinks and fun — “Naughty Mad Libs, Martinis, and May’s,” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11.

The event, to be hosted on Zoom, will feature home-delivered food and drinks from May Kitchen + Bar, an appearance by musician Angie Louise and the famous party game, Mad Libs.

The night was designed as a way to beat the winter blues, according to Lila Hughes, who is the event coordinator for Open Space.

“We set out to create a warm, inviting event that brought our community together from the comfort of their home,” Hughes said. “What better way to laugh, chat, and get a little silly than with Mad Libs?”

Participants will break into small groups for Mad Libs sessions and can specify in advance who they would like to be a part of their groups.

For good eats and drinks during the game night, May Kitchen will provide martinis paired with Papia Phak Sot Spring Rolls, which feature fresh vegetables, mango, and coconut flakes rolled in a rice wrap, served with May’s light sweet tamarind sauce with a hint of fresh Thai chili. These delicacies will be delivered to ticket holders’ doors on the day of the event.

Best of all, perhaps, the night will feature Angie Louise, bandleader of The Love Markets — a Wiermar-inspired band that has frequently appeared at Burlesco Notturno productions at Open Space.

Open Space describes Angie Louise’s music as “songs of love and revolution laced with political bite and exuberant soul, luring you down alleys and into speakeasies brimming with subversion.”

Tickets for the event, available at openspacevashon.com, start at $15. Tickets that include food and drink are $30 and are available until Feb. 7. The Zoom link to the event will be emailed to ticket-holders on Feb. 10. Participants must be 21+ to order food and drink tickets.
