Islander Pam Ingalls will offer an oil painting show called “Facing Jamaica” at The Hardware Store Restaurant as part of the Vashon Island Art Studio Tour starting May 3. The idea for the show came last year when she was painting portraits of Vashon Islanders.
The Spring Art Studio Tour, now in its 30th year, is on the first two weekends in May, from 10 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4, and, May 10 and 11.

Adolescence has always been heralded as a time of experimentation. It’s a time of growth and burgeoning independence, when children apply pressure to the disciplinary boundaries their parents impose. For many teenagers on Vashon Island, this involves the use of drugs and alcohol.

Jack and Geri Peterson are offering their large collection of vintage original video release/movie posters as a way to generate some funds for Vashon Community Care Center (VCCC).
Island artist Valerie Willson’s work conveys her deep connection to the natural world. Rippling water, thrushes, trees and sky, remnants of her childhood in Oregon and her current home overlooking Quartermaster Harbor — such are the images one sees in her paintings and that will be on display in her upcoming show at Blue Heron Gallery.
Tickets for the Vashon Chorale Spring Concert are available at both book stores and are $12.50 general admission and $10 for seniors and students. The Saturday April 5 performance will be at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday April 6 concert starts at 3 p.m.
Intervision, a jazz quintet from Portland that has been compared to Steely Dan and Stevie Wonder, comes to Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi (formerly Bishop’s) for a one-night show at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5. The cover charge is $8.
“2001” will show at the Vashon Theatre at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 6. Admission is by donation to Vashon Film Society.
