Red Bike hosts Moore
Ian Moore and his Lossy Coils come to the Red Bicycle at 9 p.m. Saturday, June 28, for a performance that marks the first time the renowned singer has brought his full band to the Island.
Moore, a Vashon-based guitarist and singer-songwriter originally from Austin, Texas, is a national recording artist known for his eclectic sound — from rock ’n roll to blues. He’s toured with such musicians as the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul Weller and ZZ Top, has collaborated with artists from Daniel Lanois to Ice Cube and has appeared in Billy Bob Thornton’s movie, Sling Blade.
Nathan Wade and The Dark Pioneers, Seattle’s purveyors of apocalyptic Americana, will open the show. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 the day of the show.
Sounds from the Big Isle
Tiger Rising, three musicians living on the Big Island of Hawaii, will play at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Café Luna. There is no cover charge.
The three musicians, Stephen Cline, Andy Rising and Jessica “Tiger Paw” Marcus, each play a wide range of instruments and together have developed original blends of acoustic music.
Because they come out of varied backgrounds, including classical, rock, Latin, folk, religious and Celtic, and bring their eclectic mix to their music, Tiger Rising, as one might imagine, has a tough time answering the question, “What kind of music do you play?” Someone once suggested it be called “chamber folk.”

Jazzy rock at Café Luna
Katie Gray, a singer/songwriter from Eastern Washington, will play her “acoustic, jazzy, folk rock” at Café Luna at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 27. There’s no cover charge.

Seattle artists at ArtsWest
ArtsWest in West Seattle kicks off summer with an exhibit of talented West Seattle artists. Called “Sound Perspectives,” the group show runs from June 22 to July 19 and includes fiber art, paintings, watercolors, photography, ceramics and mixed media sculptures using found materials.
A wine and cheese artist reception will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, with a guest performance by flamenco guitarist Marcos Carmona. The event marks the kick off of Summerfest, West Seattle’s annual street fair.
