Blue Heron Gallery will open its second annual “Masters in Miniature” exhibit at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5.

The all-Island invitational show is co-curated by Janice Mallman and Carol Schwennesen.

Blue Heron gallery curator Mallman said many artists approached her after last year’s miniature show and encouraged her to to offer it again this year.

“It’s the perfect holiday gift show for art lovers who may have less space to devote to large pieces,” Mallman said.

Schwennesen said she liked being told by artists that the show was a real challenge.

“It forces us to think in a different way,” she said.

The show will be open through December, and Blue Heron will be open for the holiday Art Studio Tour, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec 6, 7, 13 and 14.
