Urban Latin band plays concert in park

The Seattle Urban Latin band Picoso will play the next free Concerts in the Park show from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Ober Park.

Since the band formed in 2004, Picoso has evolved from a trio playing on Seattle streets into a vibrant five- to seven- piece group playing in venues around the Northwest.

Grounded in the Afro-Latino sounds of the Caribbean, Picoso’s original music spans a dynamic spectrum from traditional Cuban sound and cha cha to cumbia, reggaeton and salsa. Integrating a horn section with hard-hitting rhythms, the band ignites the dance floor while the lyrical delivery of Puerto Rican singer Alfonso Gonzalez is backed up by multi-part harmonies.

The concert series is curated by Vashon Events and presented by the Vashon Park District. All ages are welcome, and participants are encouraged to bring a blanket, chair and picnic or buy a meal from the Orca Eats food truck.

No dogs, alcohol or smoking are allowed in the park.
