Registration is now open for the next round of Vashon Allied Arts classes.

Several classes will start in the next two weeks, including Blue Heron Dance, which begins Sept. 8, with ballet and modern classes for all ages. Rehearsals for December’s production, “The Nutcracker,” led by artistic director Christine Juarez and instructors Jill Adomaitis and Rebecca Schroeder, also begin Sept. 8.

Vashon Youth Chorus, for grades K-6, also begins Monday, Sept. 8.

The chorus’ production, “Lights, Camera, Action,” under the direction of Marita Ericksen, will offer a lively repertoire of seasonal pieces in two-to-three-part harmonies and a selection of favorite songs from musicals such as “Shrek,” “The Polar Express” and more, including choreography and speaking parts. Public performances of the production will take place Dec. 13 and 14 at the Blue Heron Art Center.

Teen Stage Company, with instructor Lisa Breen, begins Tuesday, Sept. 23. The company will stage a fast-paced funny romp, “Murder Me Always.” For grades: 6-12, the company is designed to help young actors polish stage skills, character development and comic timing. Classes are 2:30 to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Blue Heron. Public performances of the play will take place Nov. 21, 22 and 23.

Complete class schedule, registration and scholarship forms are available at the Blue Heron and www.vashonalliedarts.org.
