The 26th Annual Vashon Allied Arts Community Quilt deals with water in a whimsical way. The colorful quilt is made of 16 water-themed squares sewn by various Island quilters.

Squares include rowers by Joanna Guglielmino, a fanciful fish by Nancy Sipple, hydroplanes by Anya Moritz, a kayak in the moonlight by Carrie Sikorski and an orca drawn by Sandra Noel and put into fabric by Angela Weiss. The back of the quilt features a ferry worker collecting tickets.

The quilt has hung in various Vashon shops since April and will be raffled off during Strawberry Festival.

The drawing will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 17. See the quilt and buy raffle tickets at the VAA Community Quilt booth at the festival. Tickets are $1 and those who buy 10 will get a booklet that tells about the quilt. All proceeds go to Vashon Allied Arts.
