The Ciderfest celebration drew crowds of people to various events on Saturday. The Vashon Island Fruit Club pressed local apples and sold apple crisp at Vashon Village, where island musicians also played throughout the day and people sometimes took to dancing in the sun.

Vashon Island Fire & Rescue held its annual open house as part of the day’s festivities. One of the highlights there was the Airlift Northwest’s helicopter, which kids were able to climb in, and talk with Sparky, the fire dog.

Other events of the day included tastings and tours at the island’s cideries as well a tasting event with several cideries at The Lodges on Vashon.
