A Transformational Breath Workshop will meet from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 3, 10, 17 and 24, at the Hanna Barn, 7712 Pt. Robinson Rd.

In this workshop, participants will learn a breathing technique for increasing their energy level while decreasing their stress level and how to correct restrictive breathing patterns.

Transformational Breath can be used to quiet the mind and liberate oneself from unpleasant emotional states.

The cost is $35 per session or $125 for all four. Each session builds from the one before and deepens understanding of the value and benefits.

Drum, dance

New RhythmJoy Afro-Brazilian drumming and dancing classes will begin Monday, Sept. 8, at the Vashon Dance Academy.

Drumming classes start at 6:30 p.m. No experience is necessary, and all instruments are provided.

Dance classes start at 7:30 p.m.; beginners are welcome.

The cost is $64 for a four-week session, $18 to drop in, $12 for students.

English

The Vashon Library will offer an English language learners class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 11, 18 and 25.

Celina Yarkin will teach the free weekly lessons with practice activities. Weekly attendance is important. Contact Yarkin with questions at 463-2007.

Music for kids

Swing Set Music and Movement will start for the fall Thursday, Sept.18, and run through Nov. 6. The theme will be tutor the heart with music.

Class 1, for ages 9 months to 2 years, will meet from 10 to 10:45 a.m.

Class 2, for ages 2 1/2 to 4 years, will meet from 11:15 a.m. to noon.

All classes are held at the Presbyterian Church. Tuition is $110 if registered before Sept.15 or $115 after that date.

Yoga

“Intro to Yoga” at Island Yoga Center begins a six-week session from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 18.

Students will learn the basics step-by-step in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. This class is for the absolute beginner or those who desire a refresher course.

Planting a drainfield

Dig Floral & Garden will offer the popular “Planting Your Drainfield” workshop at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21.

Participants will get tips about plant characteristics that are compatible with septic system drainfields. On-site septic systems can be a vibrant part of the landscape. Learn what not to plant to protect this important investment.

Computer

A day of computer training will meet at the Vashon Library Saturday, Sept. 27. Registration is required for all classes and begins Saturday, Sept. 6.

Basic Skills will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Introduction to Windows will meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Internet, Level 1 will meet from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
