County updating climate change strategy

The plan sets a number of goals outlining King County’s actions on climate change.

The 2020 update to King County’s strategic climate action plan (SCAP) is underway.

The plan sets a number of ambitious goals outlining the county’s actions on climate change for the next five years, including a focus on reducing regional greenhouse gas emissions, preparing for climate change impacts and supporting resilience in communities disproportionately impacted by climate change. The plan also proposes ways the county can prepare for pressures on utilities, transportation and wildlife while advancing equitable solutions to balance competing needs.

Public comment can be submitted online. Work on the SCAP will continue through next year, and an updated SCAP will be developed and submitted to the King County Council by June 30, 2020.
