The Vashon Island Fire & Rescue board of commissioners will hold a meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at the Penny Farcy Memorial Training Center on Bank Road.

At 10 a.m. on May 31, Vashon Island Fire & Rescue will host a graduation ceremony at the headquarters station on S.W. Bank Road.

This will be in honor of the 15 firefighters and two fire support members who completed the Recruit Academy in January, and the eight members who completed Emergency Medical Technician training on May 20.

The ceremony will include a presentation of certificates and special awards. The public is encouraged to attend.

Win Smart car

Realty firm gives one away

Winterbrook Realty, established on Vashon in October 2007, will give away a 2008 “Smart Car” to one of the first 20 firm clients who close an acquisition or sale of property with the company in 2008.

The car can be seen in front of the Winterbrook offices next to Robinson’s Furniture in Vashon town.

The first Smart Car imports into the United States were shipped in January 2008, and most dealerships have a one year wait list to buy one. The Winterbrook car is black with a black leather interior; it has a six-CD player/changer; air-conditioning; heated seats and airbags on all four sides.

Little Tree Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, and Saturday, June 7.
