Some of Puget Sound’s lowest tides in years will occur today and tomorrow, meteorologists say.

The tide will slip to -4.3 at 11:48 a.m. today, Wednesday, and will log in at -4.2 at 12:36 p.m. tomorrow.

Jay Albrecht, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said these low tides could prove to be lowest in the Sound’s tidal cycle, the 19-year period in which the inclination of the moon changes in relation to the earth.

“I‘ve been here for 16 years, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it this low,” he said.
