Poetry at the book store
The Poetry Salon will resume after its summer break at 7 p.m. tonight, Sept. 3. As Samuel Green, the state’s poet laureate, will be in town this weekend, the group will relax around the Vashon Bookshop’s cozy couch and talk Washington poets, past and present. (See page A10 for a story on Green’s visit.)
Choose one and come prepared to share that poet’s poetry and your thoughts about it.
Washington has produced some incredible poets, some born here and others who made Washington their home, including Richard Hugo, Denise Levertov, Tess Gallagher, Jack Prelutsky, Sam Hamill and Green.
Newcomers are welcome. Call Devon Atkins at 353-9227 for more information.
Gospel music aids hospice

This 17th annual concert will be held at the Vashon High School Theater at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6; the doors will open at 6 p.m. for refreshments and friendship.
A free-will offering will be taken at the door.
