Green Party
meets on Vashon
The Vashon-Maury Island Green Party’s next monthly meeting is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Joy Goldstein’s home, located at 10329 S.W. Bank Rd. Please park along Bank Road. On the agenda are questions and comments about Cynthia McKinney’s presidential campaign and ballot access and the Green Party’s state convention this fall.
The Green Party meets the second Tuesday of every month.

Holly Daze 2008
Plans under way
Plans are already under way for Holly Daze 2008 sponsored by the Vashon Guild of Children’s Hospital. It will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, in the Commons area of Vashon High School.
This is a great opportunity for Island crafters and cooks to sell their handicrafts and culinary products. The guild will provide a decorated hall, tables for display, music, a raffle and more. There will be an affordable lunch menu and beverages to purchase.
Registration fee for a table is $30, and each vendor keeps her/his own sale proceeds. Registrar Betty Beymer has mailed information to former vendors, and if you have not participated before and wish to do so, call her soon at 463-2683. All tables are assigned on a first-come basis.
Vashon Guild is one of many organizations supporting Child-ren’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle. All proceeds earned by the guild go to support uncompensated care at the hospital. We meet quarterly for a no-host luncheon at the Vashon Island Golf and Country Club. The next meeting will be Friday, Sept. 19, and we welcome new members.

Hot August Nights
Dinner at VIGCC
The Vashon Island Golf & Country Club’s annual Hot August Nights Dinner takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9. Chef Rob will create a five-course dinner — with each course paired with an outstanding wine provided by George and Linda Kirkish of Vashon’s own Palouse Winery. Champagne and canapés start the evening, and we won’t stop until we get to the port and strawberry gêlée. Daryl Redeker will provide the musical highlights. Reservations are required; call 463-2005.
Golfers, please sign up for the August tournament if you haven’t already. We have the Women’s Championship Aug. 7 and 9, Rally for a Cure on Aug. 15, the President’s Cup on Aug. 23 and the Women’s Club Tournament on Aug. 28.
There are still spots available for the 17th annual Golfing Legends of Vashon Pro-Am on Sept. 5 and 6. Call the Golf Shop at 463-2006 to sign up.
