Washington State Ferries seeking volunteers for triangle route task force

Nearly two months after Washington State Ferries officials held “listening meetings” in the three communities served by the triangle route to gather feedback about problems on the route and how to improve it, Ferries is seeking volunteers for a task force.

On Monday, Ferries spokesman Brian Mannion posted a call for volunteers for the Triangle Improvement Task Force on the triangle route webpage. The announcement explains that the force will be “the citizen advisory group that will be charged with examining the situation on the Triangle, recommending ‘quick wins’ to improve service by summer 2017, and coming up with recommendations for the long term.”

The announcement indicated that the group will consist of nine volunteers, three each from the Fauntleroy, Vashon and Southworth communities. Meetings will start in January, and the first order of business will be combing through the comments and feedback gathered at the late-October listening meetings.

Those who signed up to receive updates on the process and left their emails on a list at the meeting were sent a copy of the Monday announcement.

Those interested in being part of the task force should apply at surveymonkey.com/r/7PWMCRD by Dec. 27 to be considered.

The application requires responses to questions about ferry riding habits, time commitment and requires a written response to the question of “why you would make a unique and productive Task Force volunteer.”
