In Loving Memory Of
Arlene Marie Parks.
MOM, GRANDMOTHER, GREAT GRANDMOTHER,
and GREAT-GREAT GRANDMOTHER
August 9, 1934 – March 8, 2025
Arlene Marie Petersen was born to Walter F. And Katherine L. Petersen on August 9th, 1934 in West Seattle, Washington. Arlene and Mike R. Parks were married on June 21, 1952, and moved to Washington, D.C., where son Michael and daughter Janis were born. The young family returned to Washington State in 1956, where daughter Jean was born.
When their Dockton house became too much to maintain, Mom and Dad searched for smaller places to spend their retirement. They found Jubilee in Lacey and a retirement community at Verde West in Arizona for warmth in the winter. Dad died there in 2007, and Mom continued to enjoy being a snowbird with that small, kind and thoughtful community.
Arlene was admitted to the La Paz Regional Hospital in Arizona in March 2025. We do not think that she knew this was the end of her road on this beautiful earth, with her family. We gathered around her each morning. Michael was with her at the hospital when she died. Janis, Jean and granddaughters Nikki and Meridith gathered by her side. Arlene was 90.
Arlene was a wonderful Mother, We are grateful for all that she and Dad gave to us. Janis’s last words to Mom, whom she cared for many years, were ”I love you and I hope you enjoy your new address ♥️”.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, and is survived by her children Michael (Linda) Parks, Janis Larsen, and Jean Hallquist (Scott), grandchildren Nikki, Tatum, Meridith, Holly, Nathaniel and Sarah. She is also survived by twelve (12) great-grandchildren and four (4)
great-great-grandchildren.
Arlene will be interred on August 2, 2025, at the Vashon Cemetery, where a graveside burial service will be held at 11:00 a.m.
A Celebration of Life for Arlene will be held on August 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Dockton Park. Beverages and light appetizers will be provided.
